Introduction: Oil and Paint

About: Being more productive with my life :)

Wanting to satisfy my curiosity between paints and oils, I decided to experiment.

*this was my first time so learn with me

Step 1: What Do I Need?

-1/2 oil (i used olive oil, but less thicker oil is recommended)

- Paint (poster paints)

- Container big enough to fit paper

- Paper/card

- Fork (a type of mixer)

- 3/4 cup of water

Step 2: Prepping Mixture

  1. Set container out onto surface
  2. Mix 1/2 a cup of oil and 3/4 of water together
  3. Pour mixture into container

Step 3: Applying Paints

  1. One by one squeeze colours slowly plop, plop, plop
  2. Use fork to mix/control paints

Step 4: Applying Card/paper

  1. Drop card/paper onto the surface
  2. Do not submerge it, but let it soak on the surface
  3. Lift from the sides
  4. Let the paints run for a few seconds

Step 5: Dealing With Your Pieces

  1. Put pieces aside
  2. Drying time varies
  3. once paint dries rub excess oils off with tissue

What can I do with my pieces?

  • Frame with a quote
  • Decorate room with a collection (small or contrasting colour combinations / frame size)
  • Back ground for silhouette and out line art piece
  • DIY cards
  • DIY wrapping for gifts
  • Save samples for future art projects(scrap books / collages)

Step 6: For Future Attempts...and What to Expect

Honestly this was definitely fun and interesting to try out, especially with friends or family.I ended up creating a popart inspired piece to decorate my bedroom, with the oil left my card with the matte look.A fairly simple project and easy to do. However I expected funkier results, I guess I would have more pleased if

- I used more water and paint

- used a less thicker oil

Despite all that i'm looking forward with experimenting in this project.I wonder what effect water colours will give me?my ever growing curiosity is leaning towards using glitters, food colouring, black paper and water colour paper. Overall I hope your creation is a success and continue to have fun experimenting with art! :)
