Introduction: Old CD Snail Wall Art

CDs can be recycled and reused in many ways. Right from coasters to wall art, you name it and it can be done with a few CDs and some glue.

In this Instructable, I'll show you how to make a 3D snail wall art using an old worthless CD. This might change your perspective on how you look at old CDs.

Transform your boring wall to an interesting and artistic one. So let's get started !

Step 1: Things Required

For this simpled wall art, you need the following materials :

  • Old CD
  • Crafting Paper
  • Marker
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue

Step 2: Draw the Snail

The first step is to draw a snail on the crafting paper. Keep the CD as reference to it's shell and draw around it. This will just be an outline for the snail, so use a pencil. Later in forthcoming steps, you'll draw in the details.

Step 3: Cut Out the Snail

Now keep aside the CD and carefully cut out the outline of the snail. Now using a marker, draw in the details for the snail. Get imaginative and animate your snail the way you like.

Step 4: Making the Shell

You already know that you're gonna be using the CD as shell for the snail.
Using the CD as reference cut out a circle in a brown colored paper and stick it on to the CD using the glue.

Now using the marker, give in a little more detail to the shell. Again, you can do whatever you like on this.

Using the glue, stick the snail to the shell. Now you have the wall art almost ready.

Step 5: Up on the Wall

After you put your snail together using glue, all that's left to do is to put it up on the wall.

For this stick some double sided tape on to the back of the snail. Now stick it on to any wall in your house.

This mainly suits for kids room.

Think a little more and let me know what other things can be made out of old CDs in the comments below.
