Introduction: Orange and Clove Lip Balm

Handmade lip balm is a great gift. Plus it's super easy and doesn't take long.

Supplies

You will need:

A mini crock pot or a double boiler

2 Tbs Beeswax pastilles

2 Tbs Shea butter

2 Tbs Coconut oil

20 drops orange essential oil (optional)

15-20 drops clove oil (optional)

2 tsp mica powder (optional)

Step 1: Melt Ingredients

The first thing you need to do, is melt the beeswax, shea butter and coconut oil together in either a double boiler (a bowl nestled in a pot of simmering water) or a small crock pot.

Step 2: Add Your Scent/color

Once the shea butter, coconut oil, and beeswax are melted, put in your essential oils. You can use whatever scent you want. My personal favorite is orange and clove, but I also like peppermint a lot. If you want to, you can add 2 tsp of mica powder if you want tinted lip balm. The amount of mica you put in here is totally up to you. If you want it to be like lipstick, you can add more, or if you want a very light tint, you can use less.

Step 3: Pour and Cool

Now, using a pipette or medicine dropper transfer the mixture into some empty chapstick tubes, or tin containers. Let it cool at room temperature until hardened (which is usually an hour or so). One other thing--you can do fancy labels! You can make labels in either PowerPoint or Canva.
