Introduction: PEACOCK Crystal Brooch

About: I like to create fantastic jewelry !!!

Today, I am pleased to introduce a new Instructable to you.

I chose to participate in this contest "For the birds" by performing a Brooch shaped Crystal PEACOCK.

The Peacock is one of my favorite birds.
It is the symbol of Peace, Prosperity and Beauty. Its size, its splendor and its colors make it an absolutely exceptional Bird. He therefore fascinated my creative imagination to the utmost.

I chose to use Soutache cords, my favorite technique. These embroider lace trimmings, once used as ornament to realise Military jackets. This technique makes it possible to highlight precious or semi-precious materials to obtain Colorful and Elegant Jewelry.

Soutache cords are the ideal materials to be able to give the desired shape to my idea of a Peacock. I chose a somewhat abstract representation of an elegant Peacock.

To make this Jewel in the shape of a Peacock, you will need a lot of patience. That is, about almost 20 hours of embroidery, rigorously following each passage below. Here is the list of materials as well as the link to find them.

Step 1: Embroider the Peacock's Head

Choose 4 colors of soutache cords to make the Peacock's head.
(lurex white, lurex blue, blue & navy blue)

Pass your needle with your nylon thread through the 4 soutache cords to embroider them together. Give a rounded shape to form the head. Sew 1 faceted bead and 1 small seed bead in the middle, to form the eye.

Sew several faceted beads on several levels to form the neck.

Step 2: Embroidering the Peacock's Body

Choose 3 soutache cords to make the body of the Peacock. (blue, lurex blue, navy blue)

Sew these soutache cords around a faceted crystal drop.

First, give the rounded shape to the cords. Then put glue around the crystal drop. Insert it in the middle of the strings, then wait a few minutes. When the glue is dry, sew the 2 ends. Insert a rounded bead in the middle, while twisting the soutache cords. Place a drop of liquid glue on the part to be cut.

Step 3: Sew a Series of Small Seed Beads

Add 1 row around the body of the Peacock. Choose the soutache colors: Green, light green.

Then fold the soutache strings back on themselves by sewing the small seed beads in the middle. Alternate beads with green and blue beads.

Step 4: Insert a Crystal Drop

Add a crystal drop on the side. Shape the soutache strings, sew and then glue the crystal with the multi-use glue.

Step 5: Sew a Series of Small Seed Beads

Fold the green soutache strings over themselves, then add small seed beads in the middle. (blue)

Step 6: Insert 2 Small Crystal Drop

Proceed in the same way to insert the 2 other small faceted crystal drops. Give the desired shape.

Step 7: The Finish Behind

Fold the soutache cords behind, sew to secure them. Apply liquid glue to the place to be cut, to prevent the soutache cords from unraveling.

Step 8: Insert Beads Between Each Soutache Cord

Sew 1 bead between each soutache string to imitate the shape of a peacock feather.

Step 9: Feathers on the Head

Sew 3 tube beads and faceted beads on top of the Peacock's head.

Step 10: Create a Feather Effect

Use the dagger beads to mimic the shape of the fine feathers. Give shape to the soutache cords, sew the dagger by passing your needle right through. Leave a little length to then sew it behind the whole body of the Peacock.

Step 11: Insert a Small Bead Into a Crystal Drop

The crystal drops have a small hole in the middle. It is therefore necessary to insert a small seed bead in the middle using the needle.

Step 12: Embellish the Small Feathers

Create feathers with different beads, to give them different shapes and colors.

Step 13: Create Majestic Feathers

Add crystal drops, dome beads and cabochons to make the most majestic Feathers.

Sew a bead to the tip of the feather between the last soutache cords to form the Feathers.

Step 14: Assembling the Pieces

Sew a few small green beads on the tip of some feathers.

Place all the feathers behind the body of the Peacock, to obtain a majestic effect. Then sew them one at a time, passing your needle right through the Peacock. Glue the pin support to the center of the Peacock with multi-purpose glue. Let dry.

Step 15: The Show Can Begin

Your PEACOCK Crystal Brooch is finally finished !!!!
This brooch is ideal to wear on a pretty dress, jacket, a wedding outfit, a ceremony etc.

This is a Unique Piece.

This is how to capture and translate the Beauty and Splendor of this Fascinating Animal.
