Introduction: Pokemon Kindness Rock

There's a cute 'kindness rocks' project running in my local area. It involves painting rocks and leaving them for others to find. When you find a rock, you can leave it, hide it in a new location, or take it home.

Since Pokemon Go is still so popular, I thought it would be fun to decorate a rock to look like a Pokeball. The process was really simple, so it would be easy to get kids involved!

Step 1: Gather Your Materials

For this project you'll need a rock with a fairly flat surface, some acrylic paints in red, white and black, and paintbrushes. Fairly small brushes will make it easier to paint the details.

Step 2: Paint Your Rock Red

Paint a large red circle onto the front of your rock, leave to dry, then apply a second layer. Keep adding coats until you have a nice bright red color.

Step 3: Paint a Small White Circle

Next, paint a small white circle in the center of your Pokeball design. Make sure the red paint is completely dry first, or this step won't work. Let the white paint dry, then apply a second coat for good coverage. Using a smaller paintbrush makes this step easier.

Step 4: Add Black Outline

Take a fairly small brush, and use it to paint an outline around the white circle. Take care not to make the line look too thick or messy.

Step 5:

Finally, add two horizontal lines from the white circle to the edges of the red circle. If you like, you could also outline the red circle in black.

Your Pokeball rock is complete! If you'd like your rock to be weather-proof, now is the time to spray with a clear acrylic spray.

To mix things up, you could try out all sorts of different colors and designs of Pokeball, or experiment with different sizes of rock.

Happy painting!
