Potato Carved Swan

• Have you thought of a sculpture with the most commonly used vegetable, a potato?
• What is the benefit of using potato, you would ask? Its very simple to carve.
• Plus the beautiful colour makes it, one of the best material to make sculptures.

Step 1: Components

• Knife
• Peeler
• Potatoes
• Black Cumin seed to make Eyes
• Acrylic Paints
• Paintbrushes
• BroomStick

Step 2: Peeling

• The skin of the potato is peeled off by using a peeler.
• Pelling of the skin is necessary to make the final product look attractive.
• Full potato is peeled off.

Step 3: Cutting the Potatoes to Make Wings

• With the knife slowly and carefully make cuts on one side of the potato.
• The best potato would be a big oval-shaped.

Step 4: Feathers

• It should look like consecutive petals placed one on top of the other.
• This step is very important and is required to be done in at most care so that it appears flawless feathers of the swan.

Step 5: Another Side of Wing

• The same cutting procedure is followed for the other side as well.
• The cuttings must be smooth and flat.

Step 6: Top Wings and Attachment to the Body

• Similarly, you have to do for the top feathers on top of the potato.
• The cuttings must be smooth and flat.
• In this way, we make feathers on the yes sides of the potato. ie. 2 sides and one top.
• The side of the potato is cut transversely so that it stands on a flat surface.

Step 7: Head and Neck Making

• Next, another potato is taken and the face and neck of the swan are cut out of it.

Step 8: Attachment of Head and Neck

• After cutting it as given in the picture, the head is attached to the main body by using another broomstick.

Step 9: Painting

• To make it last longer, the swan is painted
• For painting acrylic paints can be used, so that the longevity of the sculpture increases.

Step 10: Finish Swan

• The Sculpture of the swan was finished in that way.
