Introduction: Projectile Motion Art

We are creating Projectile Motion Art out of pipe, fishing line, ping pong ball, tape, and a meter stick will also be needed. This represents the motion of a ball being dropped from a height of 1.5m high, at an angle of 0 degrees, and at a velocity of 4m/s.

Step 1: Step 1: Math

This is the Demos graph we were given. We then had to solve for the distance from one ball to another in both the x and y distances. We also had to find the length needed of string/fishing line to attach the ball to the pipe.

Step 2: Step 2: Materials

Materials that are needed for this project are: scissors, tape, fishing line, pipe, meter stick, and ping pong balls.

Step 3: Step 3: Assembly

In one of the above pictures, there is a piece of notepad paper that has distances on it, in centimeters. You will cut a piece of fishing line to that distance plus an extra 2 centimeters (or so) to allow you to attach the string to both the ball and the pipe. You will tape one centimeter (or so) to the ball, and at the other end of the string, the last centimeter (or so) to the piping. You go in order from smallest length of fishing line to largest, or vise versa. Each ball and string must be roughly 7 cm in length apart from one another. Then the final product will be complete.
