Introduction: Prosthetic Arm

Have you ever wanted an extra arm? Well now you can build yourself one! I called it a prosthetic arm because with some tweaking you could use it as a functional arm, but if you have two arms already and your just bored out of your mind than this is for you!

Supplies

*cardboard

*straws

*tape

*string

Step 1: The Hand

first trace one of your hands on a piece of cardboard and mark all of your finger joints on the cardboard than cut it out . After that you cut slits on the lines that you drew for the joints and also find the place in between your thumb and index finger an cut a slit straight down .Put it aside for now.

Step 2: The Forearm

Trace your forearm with your palm facing down set aside then trace your forearm with your palm facing to the side than cut out both pieces. Then get both pieces and find the middle length wise and mark it. Next draw a line going up or down on the first piece an do the opposite on the other piece. Then cut on the line you just drew. After that find the places where you cut and join them so they should look some thing like the picture.

Step 3: The Upper Arm

repeat the steps for the forearm but with your upper arm instead.

Step 4: Connecting the Pieces

Take the hand put the palm facing up and get the fore arm and tape them together to make a wrist that can move up and down then cut holes where it shows on the hand picture. After that get the upper arm and connect it to the other side of the forearm.

Step 5: Putting on the Straws

First grab some straws and bring them to your work space. Then take one and put it up to the hand and find in between the joints and cut pieces of straw slightly shorter than the spaces between the joints then tape them to the fingers so it looks like the first picture. Next tape a piece of straw on the palm side of the wrist and cut a hole facing the upper arm like in one of the pictures. Then turn it over and tape 7 pieces of straw on the other side of the elbow like it shows in one of the pictures.

Step 6: Stringing the Arm

First make 7 lengths of string that are about 6 inches longer than the fully extended arm .Than start with the inner elbow straws and string to the fingertips. Next tape the ends of the string to the backs of the fingertips. make sure to tape the extra string to the bottom of the thumb. Also all the strings but the wrist string go in through the back of the hand the wrist string goes through the hole you cut earlier in front of the wrist straw.

Step 7: (optional) Outer Layer

Get your left over cardboard and cut pieces so it looks like the picture. I hope you enjoyed this project
