Introduction: Quick Gift Crochet Cuppa Tea

About: I have been crafting for over 30 years. I truly love knitting and crocheting. I also sew and love fashion :) I enjoy learning new things and currently have a passion for weaving. I just started with a simp…

It's that time of the year again and I'm trying to complete some quick gift ideas.

So, I'm doing a series of "Quick Gift" instructables as I come up with different ideas.

This one is a cute coffee cup idea.

I filled this one up with a few tea bags but you can fill yours up with some individual bags of cocoa or coffee or candy. Add a sweet note and you have a special gift :)

It's simple but it does add some personal thought to a gift that you can give to your neighbors, your children's teachers, your co-workers, or to a friend to brighten their day.

Step 1: Supplies

Yarn - I used two different colors of thick worsted weight yarn. *You could use thinner yarns doubled or tripled, you will just add more rounds and rows to the pattern to obtain measurement.

Crochet hook size K or G for thinner yarn.

Whatever gift you would like to stuff into it.

Stitches used is:

sc - single crochet

sl st - slip stitch

ch - chain

Step 2: Let's Begin...

We will be using basic crochet skills to complete this. This cup is firm so the stitches are tight together. If your stitches are loose, go down a hook size or two to obtain firmness.

First we will be creating the base of cup.

Chain 5, join to a circle.

Round 1: Chain 1, 2 sc in each chain st around, sl st to beg. st. (10 sc)

Round 2: Chain 1, repeat round 1 for a total of 20 sc

Round 3: Chain 1, *2 sc in next st, 1 sc in next st, rep. from * around. Sl st into beg st.

At this point the base measures 2 1/2" - if you're using thinner yarns, you may need to repeat Round 3 until it measures 2 1/2".

Round 4: Chain 1, sc around in each stitch but going into just the back loop.

Round 5-10: Chain 1, sc around going under both loops. Sl st. into beg. st.

At this point the cup measures 2" - if you're using thinners yarns, you may need to repeat Round 5 a few more times until it measures 2"

Cup Handle

After completing last row, chain 8 and bring it down the side about 4 rows, insert hook into one of the stitches there and yo, draw through both loops. (See above pics)

Chain 1, and now sc into the handle loop 8 times or until you reach the top of your cup. Fasten off and weave in the ends. (See above pics)

You are all done! :)

You can totally customize this to fit your gift. If you need a taller cup, just add more rounds. Please make this your own and add your personal touch to it :)
