Introduction: Red Velvet Cookies
If you love Red Velvet Cake, you need to try it in cookie form.
Step 1: Ingredients
Cookie Ingredients:
2 1/2 c flour
1 1/2 c sugar
14 tbsp unsalted butter, room temp
1 tsp white vinegar
2 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tbsp red food coloring
2 eggs room temp
extra sugar to roll the cookies in before baking
Icing ingredients:
3 c powdered sugar
8 oz cream cheese
2 tsp vanilla
4 tbsp unsalted butter
Step 2: Grab That Mixer
Using your electric mixer, combine the butter and sugar until it's smooth.
Step 3: Keep It Mixing
Add the eggs, one at a time, to the mixer.
Step 4: Still Keeping It Mixing
Now add the vanilla, vinegar and food coloring.
Step 5: Separate Bowl Time
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt together.
Step 6: Bring It All Together
Slowly add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and mix until combined.
Step 7: Grab the Baking Sheet.
Measure out a heaping tablespoon full of the dough. Roll the dough around in the extra sugar set aside to coat them, then roll the dough into balls and place on a baking sheet.
Step 8: Bake!
Bake in an oven that's been preheated to 350° for 8-10 minutes.
Step 9: Chill
Remove from the oven and place the baking sheet on a wire rack to cool for a couple of minutes before placing the cookies directly on the wire rack to cool completely.
Step 10: Icing on The...cookie.
To make the icing, using the electric mixer, combine the cream cheese and butter together.
Step 11: Keep Adding..
Now add the powdered sugar, a little at a time to the mixer.
Step 12: Last Ingredient!
Now add the vanilla.
Step 13: Now Top the Cookies Off.
Either cover the cookies completely with the icing, or pipe it on like I did.
Step 14: Enjoy!
