Introduction: Repairing Ride on Forward Reverse Switch

One main issue with rideons are the switches go bad you can order new ones online or if your handy you can repair the old ones.

Supplies

flat head screwdriver tweezers and spray lubricant, wire cutters

Step 1: Open Up the Switch

open the switch using the flathead screw driver and empty the contents on you work table. Check the springs to see if one or both are bad.The reason these switches go bad is the springs rust out.

Step 2: Cleaning the Housing and Contacts

After getting the switch apart and contents out you can spray the housing and contacts with spray lubricant.

Step 3: Cutting Your New Springs

stretch the spring out to ease the tension and cut off a piece about 1/2 inch in size. You can pick up a box of springs from Harbor Freight.

Step 4: Putting Contacts and Spring Back Into Housing

You have sprayed the contacts and cut you springs it’s time to put it all together. Make sure the contact are both sitting together when you put the. Springs and top together. Once it’s back together work the switch back and forth it should move with minor tension. If it’s to tight trim off a little more of the springs.

Step 5: Reinstall Into the Vehicle

put the switch back in place and work the switch back and forth to test out the vehicle
