Introduction: Rolling Tool & Craft Cart From Child's Truck

To celebrate Back to School we decided to make a fun and useful rolling tool & craft cart for our maker space classrooms. We used an old "Step 2 Bigger Family Camper". We are certain any household with children will have a few large 'trucks' and 'cars' that are sitting in the bottom of the closet or under the bed that could be used in this Instructable. For instance Tonka trucks would be really great!!!

The point is to engage young makers on how to recycle their toys into their current needs and to get acquainted with basic tools, so we encourage kids of all ages to do this Instructable.

Step 1: Things You'll Need...

Large toy vehicle

Cordless Drill

Assorted Drill Bits

Razor Blade Cutter

All of the items you would use often in your work area such as markers, scissors, screwdrivers, pliers, glue, rulers, pencils, etc. etc.

Step 2: Draw Out Your Plan....

Step 3: Drilling Holes...

Use drill bits sized to fit snug for your items such as pens, pencils, scissors, etc.

Step 4: Add Dowels If Desired...

Dowels are great for stacking tapes and strings. We used metal rods we recycled from old ink printers. Wood ones are just as great.

Step 5: Cut Out Larger Areas As Desired...

A good sharp razor knife makes easy work of this.

Step 6: Add All You Favorite Tools...

Enjoy the ease of tools you use often being close by and the fun of this conversation piece!
