Introduction: Roundabout Dogs

Hello,

This may be old news but yesterday I read about the roundabout dog street installations for the first time.

"The phenomenon consists of anonymous people placing homemade dog sculptures, typically made of wood (or sometimes plastic, metal or textile) in roundabouts (traffic circles)."

The thought of it made me laugh; I like silly things like this that make people smile.

Mine took about 11 minutes to make and seemed to be the best fun that I have had all week.

They can be as complex as you wish but mine is so simple that it barely needs an instructable, but here goes.. .

Step 1: Tools + Parts

Axe + pallet wood + crowbar.

I chopped up some bits of pallet and kept the nails.

Step 2: Legs + Body

um. . .  nail on some legs.

Step 3: Head + Ears . . . Genoux Et Orteils

Yeah!

Step 4: Eyes and Nose

Beer caps for eyes and a whisky cap for a nose.

Step 5: Finished

Draw on some teeth; spray on some markings and place on a roundabout.

Step 6: UPDATE.

It's nearly three years later and it's still there, although it did move slightly.

It's Christmas Eve 2012 and I've just modified this idea to make a last minute present.

Today a guy in my area saw me carrying the new dog and asked if I had anything to do with the roundabout dog.

He told me that every time he passed it he said to himself, " I'm going to have that."

One day he said he saw it lying in the road and when he picked it up he thought " No, this is wrong; It belongs here."
and he re-positioned it.

People are funny.
