Introduction: Secret Deck of Cards Box

Inspiration - https://www.instructables.com/id/Deck-of-Cards-Saf...

In this instructable, I will be showing you how to make a Secret Deck of Cards Box. Full disclosure this is not my idea, I took inspiration from another instructable linked above. Their cuts are better and the final product looks neater. I set out to make this instructable purely for fun as it seemed like cool little keepsake box. Only after starting did I find an actual purpose for the box. In the span of making this project I locked my keys in my car 2 times. The first time I did it, I could not find the key. So this box is now the permanent residence of my spare key,

Step 1: Step 1: Tools and Supplies

This little project is very simple. You really only need a few tools and supplies

Tools

-Exacto knife or Box Cutter

-Glue Stick

-Small Piece of Plywood

Supplies

-A box of Playing Cards

Step 2: Step 2: "Cutting" the Deck

Unpack your Deck of cards. Choose 4 of your favorite cards to serve as the back and a lid. I chose the Joker as a lid and the ace of spades for the floor of the box. Preferably the cards you chose have a traceable design on the outside or the inside so tracing out a square to form the box. The deck I chose had an easy square to trace but it was only on the face cards. So I used a face card that I cut as a template.

Step 3: Step 3: Glue and Stack

Once you have cut the center out of all 48 cards, you can start stacking the cards. I started by gluing the 3 cards for the base with the back of the cards facing down. Then I started staking and gluing. Laying a layer of glue down between each card. Once you have stacked all the cards on top of each other, take the card you want the lid to be and bend it in half once each way. Then glue one side of the card to the top of your stack. Once the cards are stacked and glued I chose to put it in a vice made out of 4 C clamps and 2 pieces of wood. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO THIS AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT. I actually ended up applying too much pressure and squashing the box. So INSTEAD of doing that I recommend applying a little bit of pressure and letting it dry.

Step 4: Step 4: You Are Done

Once you remove the vice and wait for it to dry you have your Secret box.

Once again, Thank You to the author of this instructable for the inspiration.(https://www.instructables.com/id/Deck-of-Cards-Saf...)
