So Let's get started.

In this instructable, I'll show you how I made a self powered rotating motor POV (Persistence of Vision) made from an old printer roller motor and rod.

The circuit is self powered that it need no batteries or external power source since the rotating motor is acting as a generator to illuminate the LED.

Step 2: Actions

To prove the concept, I connected the LED directly to the motor wire and just rotated the rod to see if it produces enough power to light the LED.

As you can in the video, it worked just fine. Proof of Concept.

Let's Start to assemble our little gadget.

Step 3:

Now, you can try your new toy and enjoy.

Please take care not to hurt yourself or any other one around you when rotating your device.

Rotate the motor as fast as you can to illuminate the LED.
