Introduction: Shuffling Cards

To learn how to shuffle a deck of cards, follow these instructions.

Step 1: Prepare

Place the deck of cards that are going to be shuffled on a table.

Step 2: Organize

Look through the cards and make sure they are all facing the same direction (face down or up).

Step 3: Begin

Place the cards in a neat pile on the table.

Step 4: Cut

With one hand lift up roughly half of the cards off the pile in one set, and set it next to the other pile.

Step 5: Lift

With one thumb per stack, lift up the edge of the each stack that faces the other stack.

Step 6: Apply Pressure

Apply a small amount of force with your hands to the middles of each lifted stack, creating a bend.

Step 7: Slide

Slide each pile towards each other until the lifted edges will overlap if the stacks were to be dropped, with the lifted edges of each stack still facing each other.

Step 8: Release the Cards

Begin slowly sliding both of your thumbs from the bottom card of each stack to the top card, while still applying force to the middle area of each stack being held.

Step 9: Maintain

Maintain pressure on the middle part of the stacks until all of the cards have been dropped from your thumbs.

Step 10: Finish

Once all of the cards have been released from your thumbs, slide the two stacks together into one single stack.
