Introduction: Simple Biscuits With Substitutions

About: School is hard and I’m super busy, so I have been taking a bit of a break but hope to get back into it once my schedule clears up!

I've loved eating my grandma's biscuits, but I didn't always have all of the ingredients. So I substituted some of the ingredients to make these delicious biscuits. They come out great and are very simple to make. Have fun making them and enjoy!

Supplies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of flour
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 cup of olive oil (instead of butter)
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp lemon juice (instead of baking powder.
  • 1 cup of plain yogurt (instead of buttermilk)
  • 1 tsp salt

Other Things

  • cooking spray
  • mixer
  • pan
  • something to cut out the biscuits

Step 1: Preparation

Preheat the oven to 450 degrees. Also prepare a pan with cooking spray, unless the pan is a cookie sheet. Then you do not need to spray the pan. Also get out your ingredients.

Step 2: Mix Ingredients

Mix flour, sugar, baking soda, lemon juice, and salt. Blend these together in a mixer. Blend them well.

Step 3: Add Some More Ingredients.

Add the olive oil and yogurt to the mix. Blend until slightly sticky. DO NOT OVER MIX.

Step 4: Prepare the Biscuits for the Oven

Put the dough on a slightly floured surface. Roll it out until it is half an inch thick. Cut it into biscuits (I used a heart cookie cutter, but you can use whatever you want) and place on a tray that was sprayed with cooking spray.

Step 5: Cook the Biscuits

Cook the biscuits for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.

Step 6: You Are Done

Wait for them to cool, and then enjoy!
