Introduction: Simple DIY Gift That Your Kids Can Make for Their Friends

Introduction

Christmas is knocking on the door, and the New Year is just around the corner. Your kids are already making a mess in the kitchen and bedroom. They want to exchange gifts with their friends, of course. But they are kids. They can't bake cakes. They won't be able to whip out a batch of cookies. They cannot possibly start stringing necklaces with pliers. And painting on a blank greeting feels a little dull, partly because they hardly know how to draw, and they will only make a mess of watercolors that you will have to clean up. So what can they do? They are looking for you. They look up at you. The kids need you. So, teach your kids how to make the DIY pop-up Christmas greeting card that is easy and child-friendly.

DIY pop-up Christmas card

Christmas brings to mind all things sweet and beautiful on Earth, like snow-capped Christmas tree, jingle bells, balloons, glittering stars, and more. Here's how to make the 3D Pop-up Christmas Tree Greeting Card.

Step 1: Here’s All That You Need for the Pop-up Christmas Card

A small brown card, a sheet of green-colored chart paper (10x15 cm), scraps of yellow-colored paper, snowflake confetti, glue stick, a pack of card-stock.

Step 2: Make the Cuts and Folds With the Paper

  • Fold the paper with the paper fan folding technique along the edge, which measures 15 cm. The folding will be in the form of an accordion.
  • Cut the paper into strips in increasing order of length into five pieces.
  • Now prepare the stem and stick it to the card. Take the brown paper and fold it in half. Fold in the edges by 0.5mm. Glue the strips of 0.5mm to the card. The pop-up stem is now ready.

Step 3: Prepare the Card

Glue the paper strips to the card in a way that half of it is on one side of the card, and the other half is on the other side. Close the card and open it, and you will see that the Christmas tree is popping out of the card. Sprinkle a little bit of colorful glitter all over the card to make it look prettier.

Step 4: Decorate the Card With Stars and Sequins

Cut the piece of yellow paper in the shape of a flat star. Outline a star and cut the edges. Stick the star to the tip of the tree. Paint the yellow star with glitter paint and stick a few sequins to it.

Slip the Christmas card into a pretty envelope. Don't forget to write a message to your best friend. Merry Christmas.
