I recently made an Instructable on how to make Harry Potter potions, and the potions just weren't complete without a box to go with them.

Step 1: Materials

You will need:

A wooden box ( the one I used is 6.5'' x 6.5'' x 2.5'')
Brown paint
Clear lacquer (spray or brush on)
Metallic Luster Iced Espresso colour

Step 2: The Box

The box I have had these spacers in them. If your box has these you will need to gently remove them, be careful not to break them as you will need three of them.

Next, take the hinges and the fastening off the box and put them in a bag so you don't lose them.

Step 3: Painting

Tape the window of the lid on both sides. Paint the box, the lid and the three spacers on the both sides. It may take a couple of coats to get the desired colour. Once the box is dry put it back together.

Don't worry if you get a little paint around the edges of the window, as we will be adding it in later.

Step 4: Metallic Luster

Take your Metallic Luster and using a cotton swab or a finger gently spread it on the box. Do not cover the whole box, you only want to add a little bit to all the sides and the lid to give it a slightly aged look.

Next, take your clear varnish and apply it wherever you placed the Metallic Luster.

Note: If you are using spray varnish make sure you tape the window again.

Step 5: The Window

Take some brown paint (preferably the same colour as the box) and add it around the inside window of the box. Next, apply some Metallic Luster around the edges of the inside of window to give a dirty look.

Step 6: The Label

Print off the label, cut it out and tape it to the inside of the lid. Take a fine tip Sharpie and trace it. Once it is traced take the paper label off. Put some white or black tissue paper in the bottom of the box and add the three spacers to the middle of the box.
