Introduction: Snowflake Decals

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

I always love window clings, especially when I buy them to decorate my window for the holidays! Now, you can save time and money just by making your own snowflake decals for your window for winter!

Step 1: Materials

This is a really easy list of materials that you will need for this project. You really don't need much, except for...

  • 3D or puff paint in an assortment of colors
  • wax paper
  • colored glitter (optional)
  • snowflake template (not shown, but it's optional)

Step 2: Draw Out Your Snowflakes

First, if you decide to use a snowflake template, research snowflake templates on the Internet, print one out that you like, and lay a piece of wax paper on top. This is so that you will be able to trace the pattern with your paint. If you're doing the snowflakes with your free hand, practice first by drawing snowflakes on a piece of scrap paper. Now, once you're happy with your results, move on to the next step.

Pick out your favorite color and use it to draw thick lines onto your wax paper. Creativity is key, as the fact that no two snowflakes look exactly alike. When drawing out these shapes, make sure that each of your lines connect, especially within the center of your snowflakes. Also, remember that snowflakes have exactly 6 lines.

Tip: You can also add some colored glitter on top of the snowflakes to add some sparkle and to make them stick out!

Step 3: Let Dry

Now, you're going to leave out your snowflakes to dry overnight. Carefully touch them to see if the paint is dry hard, otherwise, let them keep drying.

Once they're completely dry, slowly peel them off of the wax paper.

Step 4: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!

Now, you can decorate your windows with your colorful snowflakes! This is a great project to make at your next holiday sleepover!
