Introduction: Snowman Ornament in Fusion!

About: Hi! I'm Devin Smith. I upload every month, please check out all of my Instructables.

Hey everyone! in this instructable, you will learn how to make a snowman-shaped ornament in autodesk fusion 360.

for this you will need:

  • a computer with fusion
  • a 3d printer
  • a paper clip

Step 1: The Body

for this step, make three spheres, each one smaller than the last, and move them on top of each other, like the body of a snowman!

create a sketch and make a rectangle that goes through the bottom of the lowest ball, and extrude it so that it goes through the body, making a flat bottom.

Step 2: His Little Hat Method 1

to make his little hat, you can do one of two things

  1. create an offset of the plane on the bottom of the snowman, going almost all the way to the top of the highest ball, make a sketch of a circle, extrude it to slightly above the snowball, and create a cylinder smaller than the diameter of the first circle, making a cute little top hat.

Step 3: His Little Hat Method 2

the second method of making his hat is to make the hat the same way that you did in the last step, but make it on one of the origin planes, and move it to the place where you want it.

Step 4: The Buttons

For the buttons, make a sphere. I made mine to have a diameter of 0.15 in(.381 cm), but you can do whatever works for you. Select the sphere and press "cmd+C", and paste five more spheres. Now move them to their correct places on the body.

Step 5: The Face

For the nose, create a circle on a sketch and extrude it with a taper so that it goes to a point, and move it to around the center of the top ball.

For the eyes, make an ellipse on the YZ plane, and extrude it all the way through the top ball, then mirror it through the XY plane, making two eyes. Now fillet the eyes so that they are rounded on the ends.

Step 6: Finishing Touches

Now that you have the entire build portion done, fillet the hat so that it is rounded on the edges.

Now, right click and select "appearance" from the menu below.

color everything to be the same that you would want a snowman to be(I.E. black for the hat, orange for the nose, etc.).

now it's ready to be 3d printed.

*OPTIONAL* you can leave it as it is, but I wanted to be able to hang it on my christmas tree.

make a circle on the YZ plane and select Pipe. make it big enough to touch the top of the hat, and fillet it to the hat to make it better connected.

When you print it, you can loop your paper clip through the circle on top to make it a christmas tree ornament.

Step 7: Thank You!

thank you for going through this whole thing, I really appreciate it. please vote for me in the holiday decor challenge 2018! see you next time!
