I recently got into making stencils to spray paint things through, but storing them proved difficult because of so many projects with so many layers. I wanted to keep the projects separate from each other, and give them something sturdy to lay against so they wouldn't bend.

Step 1: The Frame

This is probably one of my fastest made Instructables, utilizing three pieces of 2" x 4" and some poster board. I marked 45 degree angles along the two boards, drilled a hole at the end of the notch, and then used a hand held circular saw to cut in 2-3" through the drill hole. This could probably also be done with a jig saw, but I didn't mind it being a little messy so the circular saw was fine with me.

Once I got all the notches cut I cut the last 2" x 4" to 16" so that the uprights would be a good distance apart. I screwed two screws into each side of the middle board to hold the uprights, and then screwed through the middle board to secure it to the wall.

This Instructable also served a double purpose of covering up an ugly wall in my workshop/old kitchen.

Step 2: The Boards

I went to my local general store and bought 10 thick poster boards to use as the stencil dividers. I "borrowed" some paper clip things from my parents and was able to easily hold and separate all of the stencils to their own board.

I marked the backs of all the boards with the name of the project they held so I could grab the right one without seeing the stencils.

Step 3: Finished Product

I designed and built this stand in less than an hour, clearly not caring how it looked. The slits could be better and I could always paint it, but I needed this in my workshop quick, it was cheap, and it for sure gets the job done.

These are some of the paintings I've done using these stencils, each one having 5-6 different stencils.
