Have been loving this chevron pattern for some time now and still haven't seen any nice fabric in the shops. While making the garden table (see on Home-Dzine.co.za) , I also spray painted a couple of old plastic chairs that were stuck in a corner of the garden (see on Home-Dzine.co.za) and also decided to add some colourful cushions. Since I wasn't able to buy chevron fabric, I made my own !

Step 1: Draw and Mask Off

Print out your design on a PC Printer and then use this as a template behind the fabric to know where to place the masking tape. Make sure that all the edges are completely straight as any defects will show up like a sore thumb!

Press the tape down around all the edges to prevent bleed once you start spraying.

Step 2: Spray the Fabric

Use only matt/flat or satin spray paint, as gloss does bleed. Apply light coats from all sides (move around) until the fabric is complete covered and then leave to dry.

Step 3: Remove Tape

Once dry, and it only takes about 10 minutes, you can gently peel off the tape. Start at one side to lift and remove.

As you can see there is absolutely no bleed. It's also a good idea to only use a cotton or linen fabric for spray painting or making cushions and pillows.
