Pyzy are traditional Polish dumplings made with leavened dough and served with gravy. They are similar to some kind of dumplings or buns, but are larger in size and very fluffy. Steamed Pyzy are a great comfort food that's perfect for any occasion. In this recipe, I will show you how to make pyzy from scratch. They're perfect for a cozy family dinner or a gathering with friends. So let's get started!

Supplies

  • 500 g flour
  • 300 ml milk (warm)
  • 8 g dry yeast (or 20 g fresh yeast)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt

Step 1: Preparing the Leaven

Prepare leaven by mixing yeast, sugar, flour, and warm milk. Mix well. Cover and set aside for 15 minutes.

Step 2: Mixing and Rising

In a bowl mix eggs, salt, flour, and leaven. Knead the dough for 10 minutes. Let rise for 1-2 hours.

Step 3: Forming

Next make a dough balls - size like on a picture, sprinkle with flour, and let rise for 30 minutes.

Step 4: Steaming

Steam the dumplings by placing them in a greased colander/sieve in a pot with boiling water for 10 minutes.
