Introduction: Sunrise Smoothie

About: I like to make things, watch scary movies, and have fun with my friends.

This smoothie is inspired by beautiful sunrises, a lovely phenomena that takes place worldwide, and are a wonder to observe.

This smoothie is like an edible sunrise, and is perfect for morning, noon, and night; now you can have a sunrise at any time of day!

Step 1: Prepare Your Ingredients

Tools:

  • A Cutting Board
  • A Chef's Knife
  • A Blender

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 Cup Milk (I used soy milk because I have issues with lactose, but any milk will work.)

  • 1/2 a Banana
  • An Orange

  • 7 Average-Sized Strawberries

Collect your tools and ingredients, then chop your fruit into bite-size pieces. Your orange should be cut into eighths, your strawberries should be stemless, and your banana should be sliced into 1/2 inch thick rounds. Make sure to remove the peels!

Next, put your ingredients into bags and freeze them for 5 hours minimum. It's easier to prepare your fruit the night before you make your smoothie, so you can have a healthy, easy breakfast in the morning.

Step 2: Blend Your Banana

When you take your fruit out of the freezer, you should first let it thaw for about five minutes. Next, add your banana slices and 1/4 cup of milk to the blender and mix it up.

Pour your puree into your glass of choice, but try to only fill up a third of your cup, so you have room for the strawberries and orange slices.

If you have leftover banana smoothie, put it in a freezer-safe cup and store it in your freezer for later. Or you could put it into a popsicle mold and enjoy it as a refreshing and wholesome treat.

Step 3: Add Your Orange

Rinse out your blender, add your orange slices and 1/2 a cup of milk to your blender, and blend away!

Carefully pour your orange mixture in, so as not to disturb your blended banana, and try to leave a bit of room at the top for your strawberry blend.

Store any extra orange mixture in the freezer.

Re-rinse your blender if you want your layers to stay unmixed.

Step 4: Layer on the Strawberries

Add your strawberries and remaining half cup of milk to the blender, and mix.

Finally, add the strawberry to your smoothie, and try not to mix it up too much.

You can garnish with orange slices, strawberries, even banana slices!

This smoothie makes a beautiful, healthy treat that is great for any time of day.
