I really like my NES, and i really like the features of the NES Advantage pad :-P Unfortunatly the advantage pad is not good to play with. It requires enourmous movement of your hand to use the joystick, and the A & B buttons tend to get stuck. Also you can't move freely with it, like the normal NES pad. Therefore i desided to add a port to the NES advantage pad, to allow a normal NES pad to be used, and to use the "Turbo" option, and the "player 1 or 2" option.
Yeah, I know. Some of you think it's a death sin to mod NES & hardware. And i'm pretty sure most of you are getting really tired of NES mods. But I haven't seen this mod anywhere, so bite me... :-P
I've called my creation the " NES AdPAD." :-P

Step 1: Disassembly

1 - Remove the knobs on the turbo trimmer pots. They are hard to get off with your fingers, so use a plyer. (pic 1)

2 - Unscrew the turbo trimmer pots. (pic 1)

3 - Unscrew the bottom. (pic 2)

4 - Unscrew the circuit board. (pic 3)

5 - Remove the buttons. (pic 4 & 5)

Step 2: Soldering

(optional) - Make a hole with a Dremmel to make room for a 25 pin printer port (or smaller, it just needs to have atleast 11 connections)

2 - Follow the schematic (pic 1) solder the wires to the points, in different colors (pic 2). You can choose to wire the directly to the board, you you can do like me, and use a male printer port on the pad and female printerport on the Advantage. (pic 3) That way you can use the advantage without having cables all over :-P REMEMBER: If you do choose to use ports, you have to wire them mirrored. If you don't know what i mean, put the 2 ports togheter, and then you will know.

3 - Open your NES pad (pic 4)

4 - Unsolder everything, and cut the lines that i've marked (pic 5)

5 - Done that, you need to follow the schematic (pic 1), and wire the NES pad accordingly. Remember to put the cable in the "lock". (pic 6) Close it up.

Step 3: Finished

CONGRATULATIONS, you just made a "NES AdPAD" If you did it right, you now got a NES Advantage pad, with optional add on pad, so you can use the original pad, but with the NES Advantage pad's, advantages .. Confusing I know :-P

Step 4: Bonus Info

In Super Mario Bros., if you use the joystick, and the pad on the same time to walk both ways, it will make Mario or Luigi moonwalk :-P If you jump, while moonwalking, Mario or Luigi will moonwalk as fast, as if you hold down B to run..
