Introduction: Toilet Paper Roll Hanging Cord Organizer

This cord organizer is made simply out of toilet paper rolls and cardboard. It can be hung on the side of your desk for easy access to all of you speaker cords, chargers, etc.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

You will need...

  • 6 toilet paper rolls
  • a leftover cardboard box
  • duct tape
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • A velcro strip
  • Exacto knife
  • Sticky Strip
  • (Optional) labels

Step 2: Cut

Cut out two rectangles out of your cardboard box that are 4 ¾ in x 2 ¼ inches, two rectangles that are 11in x 4 ¾ inches, and two that are 11in x 2 ¼ inches using your Exacto knife.

Step 3: Trace

Take one of your toilet paper rolls and trace around it six times across one of your 11in x 2 ¼ in cardboard pieces starting about ¼ in away from the edge. Cut out these circles using your Exacto knife. Take that piece of cardboard that you cut the circles into and place it on top of your other 11in x 2 ¼ in cardboard piece so the edges line up. Trace the insides of the circles you cut out onto the bottom piece and then cut these circles out using your Exacto knife.

Step 4: Glue

Hot glue your six toilet paper rolls over the holes on one of the cardboard pieces and then hot glue the second cardboard piece on top of the rolls. The holes should line up if you followed the step above correctly. Using your Exacto knife, shave any of the cardboard out of the holes that don't line up perfectly. Hot glue your two 11in x 5in pieces onto the long sides like so. Hot glue your two 5in x 2 ½ in pieces on the ends of the box.

Step 5: Tape

Use your duct tape to cover the whole thing to decorate. The duct tape can be of any colour. Make sure that you do not cover the holes with duct tape because your cords have to go through them.

Step 6: Velcro and Stick

Stick the loop side of your velcro strip onto the side of your box and stick your hook side on the side of your desk, end table, etc. Stick the two pieces together so you now have a cord organizer on the side of your desk. Cut a small piece of your sticky strip for each of your cords and stick it to the top of each hole to secure the cords when necessary.

Step 7: Label and Finish

Stick your individual cords through the holes for easy access at to them at any time.

(Optional) take a label and label each of your cords acCORDingly (get it) on top of the box.
