Introduction: Transfer Image to Wood

You can easily transfer an image to a wood surface. Following is what you will need:

  • Piece of wood.
  • Image printed on Laser Printer.
  • Glue for wood.
  • Lacquer for wood.
  • Paintbrush.

Step 1: Apply Glue on the Wood

The wood surface must be clean and dry. With a paintbrush apply the glue equally on the entire surface of the wood. Do not put excessive amount of glue or else the result surface will not be smooth.

Step 2: Adding Picture

Have an image printed on a Laser printer. Before printing, have the image flipped horizontally, otherwise the picture on the wood will be reversed. Carefully put the image on the wood (face down) and try to remove any air bubbles that may be trapped between the image and the wood.

Read on the glue instructions about how long it is needed to dry, usually it is not more that a couple of hours.

Step 3: Removing the Paper

Wet the paper and with a sponge carefully remove the paper. The image should be absorbed by the glue and as result you will have the image transferred to the wood.

Repeat this step several times by removing as much paper as you like and have the result that you like.

Step 4: Finalizing - Putting Some Lacquer

When having the paper removed from the wood and it is all dry and clean, you can put some lacquer on the surface in order to have a spangly and smooth look.
