I came across this project on Pinterest for making a wire Angel. This was a simple project that took less than an hour to make. I ended up with a nine inch tall angel.

Step 2: Step 2: Materials

Drill

1 1/2 inch hole saw.

2 ¼ inch hole saw

1 5/8 screws (3 for the circles)

1 ¼ screws (for the pivot points)

Ruler

4 feet of 12 gauge galvanized wire per angel

Line mans pliers

Needle nose pliers

Scrap plywood

Step 3: Step 3: Building the Jig

I used scrape ¾ inch plywood that was laying around the shop.

Using the hole saws I cut one 2 ¼ circles for the head and two 1 ½ circles for the top of the wings. The wire was extra I had left over from another project.

On my scrap of plywood I drew a 12 inch vertical line to be the center of the angel. I drew a horizontal line from the center line to help with references for the screws.

I secured the head circle with a 1 5/8 screw where the two lines crossed. I marked two spots ¼ inch down from the bottom of the circle and ½ inch from center. This is for the neck screws.

The small circles for the top of the wings are located 2 inches from the center line and positioned so that the top of the wing is 1/4 inch higher than the screws from the neck. On my jig this was 2 inches from center and 2 inches from the top line. I secured these circles with 1 5/8 screws.

The wing tips are at approximately 60 degrees. This put the 1 ¼ inch screws 4 inches from the center line and 4 inches down from the top line.

The wings to body point is 1 inch from center and 3 ½ inches from center.

The outside bottom tip of the angel is 3 inches from the center line and 7 ½ inches from the top line.

The last two screws are ½ inch from the center line and 7 ¾ inches from the top.

Step 4: Step 4: Building the Angel

Because I used a heavy gauge wire I did not install the neck
screws until after I had the wire wrapped around the head circle.

Each angel used approximately 4 feet of wire.

Find the center of the wire and place it at the top of the head. It does not have to be exact because you will be cutting off a little excess.

Wrap the wire around the head circle and cross them under the bottom. Install two neck screws.

After wrapping the wire around the neck screws you will be able to wrap the wire around the rest of the screws. Take time to flatten the wire as you go and keep it tight as you wrap.

Wrap the wire around the neck screws then around the small circles.

Wrap the wire around the wing tip screws until they cross the body of the angel.

Wrap around the wing to body screws.

Wrap the wire around the bottom outside screws and then around the bottom center screws to create a pigtail.

Remove the center six screws to make it easier to remove the angel from the jig. Cut any excess wire from the pigtail then use the needle nose pliers tighten up the pigtail.
