In this Instructible, I will show you how I made an amazing fish take display out of an old coffee maker, some cardboard, and an afternoons time. This is a great display piece and a fun project to make. I used a broken coffee maker I got from GoodWill.

Step 1: Gathering Materials

An old Coffee Maker
Cardboard
Spray Glue
Hot Glue
Rocks
Moss
Artificial Plants
Any Items You Think Would Look Cool (I used a Deer antler and a rock bowl)
Jumbo Popsicle Sticks

Step 2: The House Roof & Sides

The first thing I did was make the roof. I bent the side to make it look like it caved in. I glued the front on and added some extra pieces of cardboard to make it look old and patched up. When you're done you add the sides and cover up the coffee maker. Before you do this make sure everything is cleaned and washed up. I added some Jumbo popsicle sticks to make it look cooler.

Step 3: The Shingles

Cut up pieces of jumbo popsicle sticks to act as shingles. Start from the bottom of the roof and work your way up. Make sure to glue each one securely in place.

Step 4: The Base & Side Room

First, cut out a cardboard base big enough to put all your aesthetics on and the side house. I glued down the water bowl and glued the deer antler to the side. I then cut out the side pieces and made a curved roof with a fitting front to it. You can then add shingles to the small roof the same way you did on the other one.

Step 5: Putting Down Grass and Moss

The pictures above are quite blurry, but it is simple to explain. First, spray the top of your rooves with the spray glue. Then sprinkle moss on top. When done you can turn it upside down to knockoff the extra. I then hot glued pieces of moss to the base plate to act as grass. I also put rocks above on the roof because it looked pretty cool. You can also add dollar tree plants to the cracks that make the display really pop.

Step 6: Put Your Fishy in and Enjoy

This was a great project with so much customizability. There is always room for improvement and I encourage you to add new things and make it better. I added rocks to the base, and some string to make it look abandoned. One of the features of this setup it the back of the house can be used for storage for fish food and stuff.
