Introduction: Album Cover Coasters

About: I am a conceptual artist, and my DIY projects are mostly inspired by pop culture (movies, music, sports, TV). I mostly specialize in painting, graphic design, drawing, digital photography, performance art, and…

Turn a 12 x 12 record album into a 4 x 4 inch coaster with this easy decoupage project!

Step 1: Get the Following Materials

To make these easy music-inspired coasters, you will need...

  • square ceramic tiles (I'm using 4 x 4 inch tiles that I bought from a hardware store on Bainbridge Ave for $0.45 each)
  • images of music albums
  • scissors
  • Mod Podge
  • sponge brush
  • self-stick felt circles

Step 2: Prep Your Images

Google images of vintage stamps and music albums, and enlarge them on your computer so that they're slightly smaller than your square ceramic tiles. Then, print them out.

Step 3: Cut and Paste

Cut the music album images with regular scissors, and adhere them to your tile with a layer of Mod Podge. Add a second coat on top to seal.

Step 4: Final Touches

Once completely dry, add self-stick felt circles to the bottoms of your coasters!

Step 5: Done!

Now, these shrunken album covers are ready to add a note or two to your table! I've used the following albums

*Janet Jackson: Control (in the 2nd image, you will see the original album cover right next to the coaster version, just an example of how the project really works)

*Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66: Look Around

*Beyonce: 4

*Adele: 25

Now, it's your turn! Choose your favorite album covers for your coasters and enjoy!
