Introduction: Approaching a Strange Object

When approaching a strange object with odoriferous allure, always start with a willingness to explore the possibilities.

Step 1: The Object: a Bird's Nest

While cleaning a nesting box for the next occupants, this nest ended up in a wheelbarrow; the smells drew me into the adventure. Advice: approach with caution.

Step 2: The Approach

Do not get too excited by approaching the object hurriedly-exercise caution. Step forward and stare at the object. Move slowly.

Step 3: Stare at the Object

After standing at attention and staring at the object, get a little closer, but again, do exercise caution. You never know what is lurking inside the object.

Step 4: Take Charge

Once you have established you are in control, you can become aggressive with the object-but only in demeanor. Continue to exercise caution.

Step 5: Circle the Prey

Just before you are ready to make the move, circle the object to be sure there is nothing on the other side.

Step 6: A 360 Move

Once you have completely circled the object, you are ready to touch the prey.

Step 7: Go for It

This is the moment for which you have waited-jump and leap but be ready to move backwards in case there is something inside this creature.

Step 8: Success

That's it! You are now the master; you have defeated the enemy; you are in control.
