Introduction: Caramel "Candy" Apple Lollipops

We used to make these in the fall and had not done so in forever. These Caramel Candy Apple Lollipops are delicious and everyone always raves about them. They are super easy to make and if you are an artist you can get really creative!! Have Fun!!

Supplies

You'll need the following very short list:

  • Oven
  • Cookie sheet/pan
  • Parchment paper
  • Popsicle sticks
  • Oven mits (always need to be safe)
  • Jolly Ranchers (Apple flavor for this instructable but any flavor will work)
  • Caramels
  • About 10 minutes of your time

Step 1: Setup

First cut a sheet of parchment paper and place it on the cookie sheet. Then as shown in the picture place three jolly ranchers 1x2. I've found that if you place the jolly ranchers this way, the result is as close as you can get to a circle. You could use more jolly ranchers if you'd like and different shapes to be creative. For this instructable I made three groupings of jolly ranchers.

Step 2: Bake & Remove From the Oven

Next you'll want to bake your jolly ranchers at 350 degrees for 4 minutes. Make sure to use oven mitts to remove the baking sheet and candy from the oven. The result will be small puddles of melted candy. You can bake for longer, if you do the melted candy will make larger but thinner puddles.

Step 3: Place Lollipop Sticks

immediately after removing the melted candy from the oven you will want to place your lollipop sticks in the center of the melted jolly ranchers. I generally place the lollipop stick and then flip the stick over to coat both sides of the stick in melted candy. Now let the candy cool for about 5 minutes.

Step 4: Melt Caramels & Coat Candy

The final step is to melt the caramels and drizzle over the cooled jolly ranchers. I melt 3-4 squares of caramels in the microwave for 30 seconds. Then I use an extra lollipop stick to scoop the melted caramel and drizzle over the candy. This is where you can get creative. You can make different designs or fully coat the jolly ranchers. The caramel does cool quickly and can be left hanging over the edge of the lollipop or folded around the back.

Hope you have fun making these!!
