DIY Jar Candles

Intro: DIY Jar Candles

Make these super simple paraffin and beeswax candles!

Step 1: You Will Need...

Glass Jars
Paraffin wax
Beeswax (optional)
Wicks and weights

Step 2:

Instructions:
Over high heat melt all the wax in a double boiler. I used a pot with a stainless steel bowl inside. Attach a weight to the wick (I used a one kroner coin, which happens to have a hole in it) Lay the wick inside the jar and have some one help you pour the hot wax into the jar. Use a pencil to lay the wick over while the candle dries.

Another suggestion...if you pour the candle wax too hot you will get sinkage in the middle. This is because the wax contracts as it cools and leaves voids. The voids can cause the candle to smoke. A tip is to use a heat gun to melt some of the top layer of wax to melt down and fill the holes. You may need to repeat this process several times.
