Introduction: Giant Nutella Biscuit Pie
Hi guys, in this tutorial we're making a nutella biscuit pie! It looks and tastes exactly like the famous nutella biscuit, except it is GIANT!
- 230g of white flour
- 1 egg
- 150g of cold butter
- 60g of hazelnuts
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 60g of cornstarch
- 100g of sugar
- 500g of nutella

Step 1: Making the Dough
Put all the hazelnuts in a blender and reduce them into a fine powder, then put them aside.
Put butter and sugar in a large bowl and mix them at medium speed. Add the egg and keep mixing, then add the vanilla essence. Add white flour, salt, conrstarch, baking powder and the hazelnut flour we made a moment ago, then amalgamate it for a few seconds. Start slowly and keep mixing until you get a soft dough.
Make a big ball and leave it to cool in a plastic bag in the fridge for half an hour.
Step 2: Preparing the Equipment
While the dough is in the fridge, you may prepare the equipment.
I used a 24cm springform baking tin, lined with a sheet of greaseproof paper on the bottom.
You'll also need the bottom of a smaller springform baking tin (21 cm) with its own piece of greaseproof paper.
At last, make a heart shape (about 12 cm tall) as shown in the pictures and draw a letter "n" just like the original biscuit. You should also make the letter n out of cardboard (about 6.5 cm tall).
Step 3: Making the Base
Take out the dough from the fridge and divide it in two. We'll need the first part only in this step. We have to make a very thin layer because that's what characterizes the nutella biscuits! Make it less than half a centimeter thick.
Take the bottom of the baking tin and cut the shortcrust to its exact shape. Close the baking tin again and make a few prickings using a fork, as shown in the picture.
With the cut-out from this half of the dough, make a sausage and press it with the rolling pin to make a thin strip, then put it around the border of the baking tin, making sure to join it with the base. You may use a wet knife to refine the shape of the sides
Step 4: Making the Top
Use the remaining half of the dough to make the top of the pie. Spread it with the rolling pin until it's as thin as the base, then cut it using the smaller baking tin bottom.
Put the greaseproof paper on top of it and flip it onto the baking tin bottom itself.
Take the cut-out from this half of the dough, spread it and place the heart design on top, then cut it to shape. Remove the paper and place the cardboard "n" on top, pressing it down gently.
At last, place the heart over the top and make a few cuts around it to mimic the actual nutella biscuit.
Step 5: Baking
Take the base of the pie and place a circle of greaseproof paper on top of it. Cut a long strip of the same paper and place it on top of the first one, then put the top of the pie inside the first tin. You'll need the strip to easily lift up the top without making a mess. Moreover, it will help keeping the bottom from inflating, while cooking both parts at the same time!
Cook the pie in the oven at 180°C for 15 minutes. When the top is golden brown, remove it from the oven but leave the bottom for 5 minutes more.
Step 6: Adding Nutella
Now it's time to add the Nutella! You can add as much as you want, it's up to you! When you're satisfied, close the pie with the top part and press it gently.
Step 7: Done!
