Introduction: How to Start a Motorcycle (Fuel Injected or Carbed)

About: Introverted rider, started riding after 40. People thought I was having a midlife crisis. I just wanted a motorcycle! Watch content for mature people of all ages, not just for the middle aged.

One of the first things we learn in our motorcycle safety course are the letters FINE-C which is the sequence of processes for starting up a motorcycle. Originally created for carbureted motorcycles, it can also be applied to motorbikes with fuel injection with minor tweaks. Here are what each letter stands for:

  • F = Fuel Supply/Fuel Level
  • I = Ignition
  • N = Neutral
  • E = Engine Cutoff/Emergency Shutdown
  • C = Choke/Clutch

It only takes a few seconds to go through the procedure but it will help avoid problems such as running out of fuel or having your bike jump forward during startup. I hope you find this instructable helpful and if you did, please hit that subscribe button. Thanks for watching and ride safe.
