today I will show you how to build a fortress-house in minecraft 1.8! this is a very simple instructable and will not be insanely hard.

Step 1: Find a Good Place to Start Building

You will need to find a flat area 16x16 blocks. if you can't find a flat surface 16x16, flatten the ground until you have the correct dimensions.

Step 2: Start Building the Foundation

This is very simple step. all you have to do is build a 16x16 square in the space you cleared or found. then, make the walls 4 blocks tall and make a 3x2 hole in the middle. (We will work on all the redstone later)

Step 3: Redstone Door Part 1

this is a somewhat complicated step. so I will explain it as best as I can. first, dig a hole in the ground that is facing in the doorway, it should look like the picture. the dimensions are, 2 blocks deep, three blocks wide. and 2 blocks wide, REMEMBER, it faces the inside of the wall. put three sticky pistons down in the doorframe put blocks of choice on the sticky pistons. I will show you what I did later. next, put repeaters and redstone dust down just like in the pictures. also, you will have to dig a cavity into the wall. last instruction for this step. in the picture dig the top out so it is just a big hole in the fort. then, put sticky pistons facing down on the door. it should look just like the picture.

Step 4: Redstone Door Part 2

this is the harder portion of the redstone door. it took time to figure this out. I would advise you just follow the pictures.

Step 5: Command Block Time!!! (optional)

this step requires cheats enabled in order for this step to work. dig through a 4x1 hole 1 block above the ground fill it with command blocks and type: /give @p minecraft:(material)_(armor piece of choice:boots chestplate leggings helmet) put one armor piece in each command block. and then put down repeaters facing the command blocks. and then redstone connecting all of the repeaters. cover it all up and put a button make the walls even with the other side.

Step 6: Cover It Up

Simple, we already covered up the command blocks so now all you need to do is cover up all the redstone and make it even with the other wall. it should look just like the picture.
