Introduction: How to Know If Heavy Tired Legs Mean Heart Trouble

About: I am a Teacher of health education who will be writing on different health topics

Heavy and tired legs can often signal very serious heart
complications, the heaviness in the lower limbs that so many experiences are
often related to the health of the circulatory system. The most important thing
to remember is that heaviness in the lower limbs should never be ignored; it is
almost always a sign of other health complications. In this tutorial we will
discuss why heavy and tired legs can be a sign of coming heart troubles which should
never be ignored.

Step 1: Age on the Highway

If you are over 30 years old you must come to the realization that you better take
care of your arteries. The arteries are your health highway; it is your traffic
freeway where blood must have a very clear path for your body to operate. As we
age the arteries in our legs accumulate plaque, this is the same exact plaque
which is responsible for heart disease.
Almost everyone over 30 has some of this plaque narrowing the blood
flow, due to the rising diabetes and obesity rates younger people are now
experiencing this. It is not uncommon today for heavy and tired legs to affect
a person in their mid 20’s.

***In an amazing
study which was published this year researchers revealed that clogged arteries are affecting
teens, the study revealed that many younger
teens(12- 14 years old) had the arteries of a 45 year old male! ***

“Saying that a child has the arteries of a
45-year-old brings it home, and so I think it’s a really nice way to catch
people’s eye,” agrees Sarah De Ferranti, MD, director of the Preventative
Cardiology Clinic at Children’s Hospital Boston.

It is esssential for all people to understrand the
seriousness of what is happening in much of the United States and Europe, a
heart attack is a horrible thing and it can occur wihtout much warning beside
heaviness in the legs. What is happening to the children is nothing short of a
National disgrace.

Step 2: Weight and Time

Are you over your ideal weight? Being as little as 20 pounds
overweight can contribute to blocked arteries. One of the reasons for the increase in the
heavy tired legs as been the obesity crisis, as more people are carrying more
inflammatory body fat it is leading to more people with lower limb
complications. We are in the middle of
an obesity crisis in much of the West but it should be understood that you may
be thin and till have clogged arteries.

It is a fact that the typical American or European lifestyle
leads to clogged arteries. The wrong
diet is the enemy to cardiovascular health; tiredness/heaviness in the lower
limbs is your warning sign. The longer
that a person lives with this condition the more the damage accumulates. Each year that a person is overweight there is
4% increase in the amount of plaque build up in the arteries, this leads to a
significant amount over a very short time period.

Step 3: Cholesterol Levels, Stroke and Heavy Legs

Many people believe that as long as their overall cholesterol
level is good it means that the arteries are clean but this is certainly not
the case. A recent study highlights the fact that a normal overall cholesterol
level is a poor indicator as to the health of the arteries. One of the reasons
heavy legs are so dangerous is that people are often not aware that the legs
are the best indication as to the health of the body and particularly the
heart. It is good to keep the bad
cholesterol levels low and the good ones high but if you have heaviness in the
legs it usually signify some artery blockage.

A study publisged ithe Amercan Heart association
Journal singled out clogged arteries as
a strong predictor of fututre heart troubles.

Clogged arteries are "an independent predictor of
future stroke events in the general population," they wrote. Out of over
4,000 study participants, more than 90 had a stroke over about eight years – and
artery blockage was significantly higher in those than it was in the rest.

Everyone should be on some diet to clear the
arteries before any leg heaviness begins.

Step 4: Tired Legs? Why the Heart Is Affected

It is important to think of the circulatory system as a
“whole”, the blood must circulate thorough out the whole system and this is
where the legs come in. The arteries in the legs play an important role in the
functioning of the heart. When the legs are constantly tired it is a strong
indication of poor circulation, this should not be ignored.

Step 5: Surgery or Diet

There are basically only 2 ways to deal with heavy tired legs, one is surgery and the other is a very
specific diet. Those who have constant
heavy and tired legs may have to option for surgery to clear out the arteries,
this is a major surgery seeing as anything which involves the legs has some
effect on the heart. The surgery is a procedure where the clogged leg arteries
may be “bypassed” in order to bring more blood to the heart; this relieves the
heaviness in the lower limb. Please note that this is a very serious

Step 6: Diet to Clear the Heavy Legs

Almost all health problems originate in some way with the diet but diet can be used in a powerful way to heal the body. Can diet spare you from more artery blockage and surgery? Food is very powerful when used in the
right combination, it is crucial that you use the right foods in the right combinations, if you are to clear the arteries. There are foods which when used in the correct way can have a very beneficial effects on the arteries. It must be noted that diet must be very strong and very specific to reverse heavy and tired legs
but it is very possible to do this without surgery.
