Introduction: Multiple Piece Headphone Stand for Small 3D Printers

this is the final product ....follow the following steps to create this stand using a small 3d printer....the idea is to create the final product from pieces that we will assemble and connect together.

Step 1: ITEMS NEEDED

in this project you will only need the cube and cylinder shapes from tinker cad's basic shapes section

Step 2: Step 1

start by adding the cube shape and flatten it, then make sure that all of it's sides are the same length.

Step 3: Step 2

add another cube and shrink it to a small cube. then shape it into a rectangle and stick it to your original cube.

Step 4: Step 3

copy the rectangle shape that you created and paste it beside the first one.

Step 5: Step 4

move the second rectangle into the original cube and make it hole using the solid/hole tool in tinker cad... this should create a hole inside the cube that is the same size of the rectangle outside the cube. view picture for better understanding.

Step 6: Step 5

copy the two shapes created ( solid rectangle and hole rectangle )and paste them on the other side of the cube.

Step 7: Step 6

use the cylinder tool in tinker cad's basic tools to add a cylinder to your work space. then proceed by shrinking it and placing it on the edge of the cube. see picture for better understanding. don't forget to increase the number of sides on the cylinder for a smother result.

Step 8: Step 7

group all of the pieces on the work space to form one big object. the copy this object and paste it so that you have 4 of the original object on your work space. it is worth mentioning that you will not need to do this step when printing. this step is used to see the shape of the end result before printing and assembly. when it is time for execution. you will have to print the original shape 4 times on your printer. this allows you to increase its size. see picture for better understanding....insert each rectangle into the hole of the other shape to create shape in photo.

Step 9: Step 8

add a cube from the basic shapes section in tinker cad. flatten the cube and insert 4 hole cylinders corresponding to the cylinders( pegs )that are on the original shape. group the holes with the new flattened cube to create the shape that is visible in the photos. it is worth mentioning that the cylinders on the shapes will be inserted into the holes created after printing.

Step 10: Step 9

add a cylinder to the new shape created and group. note: do not group the previous shape with the original shapes

Step 11: Step 10

add a larger cylinder to the work space. insert a hole into the new cylinder. make sure that the hole is the same size as the cylinder grouped in the previous shape. for better understanding, this new shape will be inserted into the original shapes in the work space using this hole.

Step 12: Step 11

move the shape created in the previous step into the original shape ...should be seamless. proceed by adding a cylinder on top of the new shape created in the previous step.

Step 13: Step 12

add a new cylinder with a hole that is the same size as the new cylinder in the previous slide. when printed they should be able to fit on top of each other.

Step 14: Step 13

add a hole cylinder to the to of the new cylinder created in previous step tilt it side ways and dont cover the whole top of the cylinder( keep parts of the sides) see picture for better understanding.

Step 15: Step 14

group the two shapes to create the shape visible in demonstration.( picture )

Step 16: Final Result

move the new grouped shape into its place with the other shapes. result should be same as the displayed image. it is worth noting that at this point you are viewing the final digital image of your headphone stand so you can add more shapes and pieces to make the stand look more pretty and beautiful. DO NOT PRINT this visual make sure to separate all the pieces and enlarge it to fit your headphone size .

Step 17: Seperate

you should have the following pieces as a result.

--------------------------------------------------printing tips----------------------------------------------------

-print each piece separately. and enlarged

-i suggest you use 100% infill for a more sturdy result.

-heated bed recommended but i think it can work without one.

-ABS is the best choice for this project but PLA could work( it would just be less strong).

-after printing all pieces. group and assemble the same way demonstrated in the previous steps.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

have fun. get creative in modifying the project to make it prettier. and have fun...3D printing is all about having fun and enjoying the process. you might fail but you only drown in the river when you stop trying.
