Bottle Cap Curtain

Introduction: Bottle Cap Curtain

i collect bottle caps so i have over 600 hundred of them and i need to do something with them so as i was looking for something i found someone who made a curtain out of soda tabs, so i got the idea to do the same thing but with bottle caps! (i suggest reading all instructions first) btw this is my first instructable.

what you will need:
elmers all purpose glue (or a different brand, as long as it dries clear)
bottle caps
string (it has to be pretty thin but cant break easily)
beads (optional)
a piece of card board or a hard covered book that you dont mind getting a few marks on
scratch paper or a small peice of cardboard

Step 1: Skewer the Bottle Cap

now this part might hurt a bit, sorry, but the first thing you do is put the first bottle cap on top of the card board or whatver you chose (i used a peice of metal that i got from a mobile kit) then you take the tack and push it into the bottle cap leaving a hole about half a centimeter from the edge.

Step 2: Measure Your Window

now you take the tape ruler and measure your window, determining how long your curtain will be. add ten inches and cut the string to that length.

Step 3:

now you thread the bottle caps like this, take one end of the string and put it threw the top hole so that it goes threw the front to the back of the bottle cap, then thread the string threw the bottom hole so that it comes out the front side of the bottle cap. slide the bottle cap about five inches down the string.

Step 4: GLUE IT!

heres the fun/messy part. first squirt a tiny bit of glue onto a piece of paper, take the cotton off of one of the Q-Tips and dip it in the glue. there should only be a little bit of glue on it. wipe it on the top of the bottle cap where the hole is. then flip it over and use a Q-tip that still has the cotton on it and dip it in the glue. now there needs to be a lot of glue on it. then wipe it one the back of the bottle cap where the hole is.

Step 5: Glue or Beads?

now you need to choose to glue ALL the bottle caps or just the first and last ones. if you choose to glue ALL the bottle caps then you can skip this step. but other wise stay here. with the beads its gonna look something like the picture above. if you chose the beads this is what you do. First get 4 beads that are either half a centimeter long or 2 beads that are 1 centimeter long. string the beads and voila!

Step 6: Finishing Up

repeat steps 1, 3, and 4 or if you chose beads, steps 1,3 and 5 until you have 5 inches left on the string. then glue the last bottle cap to where it is. then make as many more as you want! until it is a curtain. when your finished use ducktape to hang them up or be more creative.  ENJOY!

Doesnt duct tape take the paint off the walls? I guess tying the individual strings do a dowel rod and then hanging it might be safer? Love the idea though :] i have a ton of bottle caps! im gonna try this myself :]

that hasnt happened to me, but its your curtian so do what you like :]

That looks cool! I have bottle caps and I have been trying to figure out what to do with them, but I don't have anywhere near 600. Did you make a whole curtain? Do you have a picture of it?
