I think I saw something similar on youtube to iforce2d's. I have not done a static test of it but everything is working and ready to go if I ever get a chance to get more hobby motors.

I made the same data logger circuit without the leds a year ago!!
If I were using it for that I would use the air dump option just so you don't have any possibility of the fumes accumulating. Also, If the air is that flammable you might have another problem... So I think it would be fine.
I got an anet a8 It's a great printer. Mine came with a few problems (fired resistor on limit switch connector, threaded rod not correct threads. I hope yours works out of the box though it is a hell of a printer once its up and running and I would be more than happy to help you out with settings etc. thanks for the compliment.
The cool thing is if you ever want to put anything else into the heat shrink you can. I was thinking about putting some oxidizer into the cotton to make sure it ignites inside a motor.
The battery is only connected for a few seconds. I'm not sure how much current it takes. Also with the added length of wire, you increase resistance so if you are worried then using some long wire and twisting them around each other to increase the length of wire thereby increasing the resistance. The batteries I use are not expensive so I'm not too worried about it.
From what I have found on the internet polyester needs higher temps(around 400C compared to cotton around 200C) to burn and it drips burnt polyester. I'm sure you could get it to work but cotton would be a lot cleaner.
