Do NOT use activated charcoal if you are a woman using birth control pills! Or are taking any kind of other medication, really... Serving this at a party to a bunch of folks whose medical history you are clueless about would be highly irresponsible, IMHO.I accidentally discovered a fun and far safer method for producing an almost-black drink a few years ago: blueberry smoothie + spirulina! The dark purple from the blueberries plus dark green from the spirulina turn the smoothie almost completely black. And at least you won't be risking any unexpected pregnancies...

Please do not steal photographs from someone else's video! Looks like every singel one of the copperwork photographs starting at Step 2 were stolen straight from the Rextorn video you mentioned. It is NOT OK to pass off someone else's work as you own.

Very nice. I would very much prefer to separate all the high voltage from the explosive acetone vapors though! During normal operation, the fan should remove any stray acetone vapor. But if you were to run the machine for a while, then switch it off (potentially allowing acetone vapors to leak into the electronics housing), and switch it back on soon after, you could potentially have a dangerous situation. There are a number of misters available that run on a 12V wall wart. Not that you cannot get any sparks with 12V, but it would make me sleep better at night knowing there's only low voltage anywhere near the highly flammable air/acetone vapor mix.Probably also want to make sure to use a brushless fan (most DC computer fans are), sealed relay (most are), and anti-sparking power switch (be…

Very nice! Have you experimented lighting with an led strip from above or from the side? I found that colored E.coli on LB don't show up well when lit from below, because of the color of the LB, and because the colonies essentially shade themselves from below. Lighting at a 45 degree angle seems to make the colors pop a lot better.
