Oh, wow. That DOES sound like fun Denise! Then you seem to be the perfect person to talk to about this. Would you mind if I pick your brain a little bit about this topic? I have done a lot of work with really young kids (3 to 8y old) but never with a slightly older age group and I´d really like to learn how to teach both groups in basic shop stuff. And then I met you :=). So, if yes, plz email me at yves@projectsandthings.com. I´d love to ask you a few questions if I may.

- ProjectsandThings commented on homewithmelody's instructable Simple Modern DIY Plywood Desk for £40 ($55)
View Instructable »Hi Melody, epic name by the way!I´ve been looking around for very simple plywood tables/desks etc and this is one I am definitely building! Clean design ( like the chamfer a lot), well written out and using less that than a sheet of plywood, whohooow! So thanks for making this, I´m also gonna make this.I´m only doubting between minimizing your design to make my kids a desk/playtable or upsizing it to make full dining table with similar design but beefier.- Yves
- ProjectsandThings commented on Stevens Workshop's instructable Deep Hole in a Small Box, a Different Take on the Infinity Mirror.
View Instructable »“the ply is thirsty and you don't want a dry joint” As any stoner will agree to :)Well done Steven!I saw this one float around the internet somewhere and now that I have found the source I have to say I’m impressed. You did take an existing idea but made it so much more believable with the mineshaft concept

View Instructable »Thanks steven! Yeah, a lot of people got upset at me for the metal-on-guitar idea. But 8 ish layers of that laquer makes for a smooth AF finish :)

Well, Jessy ratfink from Instructables mentioned on a podcast that they took into account votes, view numbers + their own staff votes to get to a final winner. Since relying on just votes was causing people to try and game the system to win. So I do think you votes in the past did make a difference!
Thank you nearly_trainable. Dry, matter-of-fact tutorials get old real quick, they are like those boring teachers who couldn’t keep a class’ attention. I like to think the silliness helps :)
View Instructable »Thank you Denise, for both compliments :) I really love doing this kind of stuff and seeing that it can help people (if going by some of the comments on my projects) You mentioned that you teach shop skills, interesting! In a school? To kids? Or just adults? I’d like to know more, as teaching actual classes for kids might be something I get to do in the future.

Thanks for the compliment Snow!I will gladly accept your vote, even made up points are points, so yay!I have written a few other Semi-useful, silly instructables that are more about actually making somethings, as opposed to failing slightly at making stuff. if you ever get bored you can check those out .have a great day!
Thanks man, for that VERY detailed glue lesson. I’n gonna see if I can find something here that resembles the characteristics of the Yellow titebond stuff, as lots of glueing is in my future :)
View Instructable »Hi banman,This comment section is getting very helpful indeed. Well it seems that if you are over in the US or canada, then any of the Titebond yellow wood glue stuff is physically stronger than the white pva glue you and I use. That being said, all the stuff I have glued in the last 2 years is still stuck nicely together, except when I´ve use too little gluing area. Mostly in things like butt-joints, where only a very small part of the end of a plank is glued against the other in a big T shape. Then any force applied to to the end of that plank becomes to much for the small glue joint. So in that case making things like half laps, or dados, rabbets etc.. increases the area of wood touching each other ( it´s getting dirty now) and if you slather any type of glue on those touchy touchy area…

Hi Banman, getting the board to stay together as in:-they slide out of aligment when you clamp them- they come apart after the glue has dried?- the board actually breaks when you clamp?for sliding parts you can use a light pressure at first, wait a minute and then tighten the clamp.you can use dowels to keep long glue ups in place, or simple sprinkle a tiny bit of salt on a glued edge when trying to glue long edges together.if they fall apart, more glue and more area to be glued together perhaps
Hi renni, indeed, I’ve since then switched to a cutting board safe oil for re-oiling the board. The glue is a white wooodglue that dries clear and is used by cutty-board-maker-people over here in Belgium a lot. I guess I forked up in mentioning gorilla, I thought it was the same thing
Thanks! I tried adding the wood glue that I use over here in Belgium, but amazon doesn’t have any of the brands that are available over here. But, thanks for mentioning Titebond, that seems like a better fit for this. What is a standard wood glue that dries clear? Like mine. Because titebond becomes weirdly yellow if I remember correctly
View Instructable »Thanks a lot spirit walker! I love tutorials but I dislike the often dry way in which they are written. Hence my slightly silly approach at them :)

You’re welcome, happy cooking Penolopy!
Hi Penolopy, I think that would work fine, if you regularly have heartburn from tomato sauce. If its taste, the you can make your sauce taste less sour by mixing in some sugar. Onions are in here, they are alkaline and help raise the pH while making it taste even better, especially if you slowly cook them till they caramelise, before moving on with the dish

Hi Oksana, very very cool! it looks fancier then mine :oSo how did you make the leaves with plaster filler? do you have a mold to pour it in, or did you sculpt them by hand? if so, very impressive indeed!
love it, how did you make the bricks? for being fake they look impressively real.
View Instructable »Wow, did you make these things? if so, very cool. Especially if it is already 15 years ago and you still have the fotos. Its always fantastic to make stuff, it makes you feel proud of yourself in the end (unless the project fails, then I usally feel silly)

- ProjectsandThings commented on ProjectsandThings's instructable Believe in Your Shelf: Floating Plywood Shelves
View Instructable »Hi, thank you for the kind words.Over here in Belgium we don’t have many wooden houses or stud walls. This a drywall-wall that is put in front of brick outside wall that sometimes gets a bit wet and we put it it for insulation mostly. The drywall is held up by thin aluminum studs so drilling unto them wouldnactually give less support. But the whole drywallSheet is secured safely to the wall. So therefore the anchors are my best solution. I also won’t put much weight on there since my kids do eat under there :). Have a great day sd 1994!
