Thanks for the feedback! I did actually consider that in this design. As long as the the magnet is far enough back in the jaws it stays in well enough. The jaws also coming in from the sides as opposed to a V shape ( think a normal set of pliers) helps to direct the force in between the magnets instead of pushing them out. My initial design was more along the V shape and was very simple, but pushed the magnets out too much so I switched to this design. Though I do like the idea of a notch too.
