Thanks! I imagine you could find something like these metal rings on ebay - you can pretty much find anything there - but I really enjoyed making these handles entirely from scrap. I would recommend investing a few bucks in a pipe cutter, if you don't have one, and you'd be amazed at how easy it is to make these rings from any piece of scrap pipe.

Thanks for the tip! It's been almost 8 years since I first repaired this console cover, and it's long overdue for a facelift! This time around, I plan to use some faux leather from on retired car seat cover, and I will definitely try the "apply heat" method!

David, I couldn't really tell you from looking at the picture. What I would recommend is that you see which plug fits your head unit better, and then test it by temporarily splicing with an old headphone cable. You might also find specs if you search for a manual for your unit. Good luck and I'd love to see a photo of the finished product!

Another museum-quality creation my friend! (Sorry I haven't had time to post of late!) A brilliant creation, but also really beautifully photographed and documented. You do a wonderful job of photographing and annotating every step of the process. I particularly like the way you made the shade for this lamp... pure steampunk genius;-)

I think "value" in the case of a 19 fin Victorian radiator really comes down to the adage "what the market will bear," or put more simply, what somebody is willing to pay for it. Unlike many other items, you can't simply drop a 19 fin Victorian radiator off at the local Post Office and and stick a few stamps on it. These things are VERY HEAVY and I'm sure shipping would be EXTREMELY expensive, so you're really limited to selling it to someone within driving distance, which drastically cuts down on your potential market. That said, the right person might spend a lot of money on the right radiator, but it's a matter of finding that person, and I don't get the sense that there is a huge market for antique cast iron radiators. Some people actually pay a lot of money to have…

Awesome idea, and great Instrubctable! I saw this project on Kimmel this week, with the EXACT SAME PHOTO, and thought I might see the first shout-out for Instructables on national television, but they gave no credit! That's not nice;-(

Thanks for your comment! This lamp shade project was very simple and really changed the whole look of the lamp! If you do make one like it, please post a photo here!
Great Instructable! I just saved a bunch of offcuts from 8' studs for a 7' wall for a future yet to be determined project, and this looks perfect! I see many step stools in my future;-) I have to admit I'm jealous of one photo - "$6.98 ea." I just paid $8.65 per stud at the same big box store in Northern Pennsylvania and felt like I was getting a bargain!
