Thank you for the compliment.Unfortunately the solenoids I used (actually linear actuators) are very low power and the system works by a quick energy transfer from the moving actuator rod and the chime. It would not have the strength to simulate a "finger". . However there are many design concepts for mechanical fingers and may be a good place to look for ideas. Good luckAl

This is really a great way to stabilize the "third hand"... HOWEVER...It is difficult to justify spending $$$ just for a heavy base....I have found a cheap alternative.... They make 3" X 3" X 1/4" thick steel bearing plates...Use them instead of the Pipe flange.They have them at Home Depot for $1.00 or on EBAY for the same price.If you need more weight... Glue two (or more) of them together.
