The only thing that sticks to silicone is more silicone, you'll have to either use a silicone adhesive or maybe even a small screw through both. Hope this helps!

Yep! That's the right order! You want to rough up the surface and then make sure it's free of dust, debris, and oils with the help of an alcohol wipe.

  • How to Use Yardwaste As Resin Filler

Thanks! I'm excited to keep experimenting with this techniqueI did learn a long time ago in school that if there was water trapped inside of the resin that it can fog or not cure correctly so that's why I let the wood chips sit out in the sun to dry out after the branches were mulched.

I would definitely recommend using 2 part silicone for that, and you'll have to use a plastic mold so the silicone doesn't bond to the mold. I've been using that linked mold material lots of mold release on my cast objects with great results.

I would love to see someone mod something like this!

Oh! I didn't know that was even a thing! I'll have to do some research!

    Thanks for the tip!

I have to pull it down for watering sometimes, so I left the bottom untiled so I could set it down and work on it and swap out plants when it gets overgrown - but it's your planter and if you want to tile the bottom, go for it!

Thank you! I just ordered more mirror tiles to keep disco-ing things around the house!

Big fan of using applicators for glue otherwise you could end up in a *sticky* situation. (sorry, had to :P) Here's the exact tool I used, and I'll update the link in the post now :) I don't know what diamond art is but it sounds like something I'd be into :D

Eeee! Thanks! It's been so fun to have around.

Have you ever heard of a process called rotocasting? That's a really good way to make hollow shapes. You could also use brush on silicon to create the mold if you could some how support the mold walls. Definitely a tricky shape.

  • Flock a Figurine With Spray Adhesive

I would be very careful - perhaps a thick puffy paint applied with a brush could work, but the flock is absorbent so make sure whatever you paint isn't too watery or runny.Perhaps you can flock a scrap piece of cardboard to figure out what paint works best?Good luck and share your results!

Pretty vase.Ok, couple of questions - what is your final casting material? do you want the vase to still be hollow? Do you need to make more than one copy?

Hey there, if the clay is able to air dry - it will work in this mold - you may want to check out Smooth Sil 940 too, I found this video on how to use it's slightly stiffer rubber compound 960. https://youtu.be/lOWQ7xFLOaQ

You might be able to if you use a jewlery saw, otherwise the CDs may shatter if you try and cut them!

I've never tried to cut old CDs. I imagine you will need a tool like a jewelry saw to make precise cuts in the CDs without them shattering apart. Would love to see your results if you try!

I've never cut old CDs, but perhaps you'd want to use a small jewelry saw to get the shapes right.

I was just starting to do some testing with a similar concept of embedding the film in the print. I’ll have to spend some time digging into that reddit thread. My first attempt didn’t go well so next I’m trying to mimic the film gripping system you see in a roll of photo film and a camera reel.
