If you're able to make any edits, we've done some research and testing around what kind of DIY videos perform best, they typically share these traits:sounds good! upbeat cheery music without lyrics is a great way to set the pacing for your video's cuts and help bridge shots together.fill the screen! videos formatted 16:9 or 9:16 will perfectly fill the screen of any mobile device, which is where a majority of the Instructables community sees our social media posts.show it, don't say it. it's important to use voice-overs and text-explainers sparingly, we've learned if you clearly show what you would have tried to explain viewers learn better, faster, and keep watching.speed it up! folks are in a hurry to move on to the next item in their infinitely scrolling list of subscriptions. when you speed up your video you look like a DIY superhero and viewers are able to learn more in a shorter amount of time. We've also noticed that they're more likely to watch the complete video and engage with the post after viewing.short and sweet. videos less than 60 seconds are more likely to be viewed all the way through vs. videos that go over a minute.Alternatively, people also love gifs of electronics tasks like soldering and component connections. If you need help making gifs take a look at this Instructable. If you're able to, keep it under 3 MB, that's the largest file size Twitter will accept :)Let us know if you have any questions :D Congrats on your recent win!

We had a busy few weeks around the office and I'm finally able to jump back into this forum topic - thanks for your patience! That project is awesome and it looks like you've already gotten a lot of community feedback! Do you have a shorter version of that video (30 seconds or less) that we may be able to share to twitter? You can upload a .mov to your project or email it directly to us at et@instructables.comCongrats again on your recent contest win!:D

Thanks for your patience with my reply, we were cooking up big ideas over here for 2019 :D We'll definitely queue some of these up. Do you have a username on Twitter?

Woah this is a cool (no pun intended) project! I'd love to feature it in the arduino category, but your intro image needs to be a little brighter and more in focus. If you decide to swap it for a more feature-worthy image, reply to this comment, and I'll check it out :D Thanks for sharing your brilliance on Instructables! https://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Create-a-Feature-Worthy-Instructable/

Hey there, Welcome to Instructables! This project is a great idea, but it doesn't look your video file is working. I'd love to see this in action so it can be let into the Make it Glow Contest.Maybe consider uploading your video to a service like YouTube and embedding the video module into step 6 above to demonstrate the effect? Can't wait to see this project in action.Let me know if you need help with your video upload.Cheers! -audreyObscura

Hey there! This project is so cool! I love the way you are using the sphere as a lens. I'm a community manager here at Instructables and would love to feature your project, but it really would be great if you could change the title of your project to 'Fake Planet Photography'. This will help drive more traffic to your project from search, and make it easier for folks around the world to understand your project.Let me know if you need help editing your title, and thanks for inspiring me with a new way to use those cool plastic sheres! Hey there! These are great questions, so I went ahead and updated this forum topic as well. We want to boost published Instructables that have embedded GIFs and videos with a high production value. What do we mean when we say ''high production value"?-images and videos are in sharp focus and well lit-footage is stabilized. Phone tripods are pretty cheap (I use this one quite a bit) or pop over to my photography lesson on tripods-if there is sound, the audio is easily discernable and music is not distracting (nothing with lyrics, is pretty much the rule).

OMG how cute! Would you be willing to make a gif from your video to promote on Social? Your video is awesome, but the music is mixed a little loud and is a bit distracting. I like that you only use text overlays at the beginning of your video and not in them middle. Overlays are tricky, but you use yours sparingly. Well done!Have any other projects in the hopper? We've got a Toys Contest launching next week :D

Yay! You posted it! This is such a COOL UPCYCLE IDEA! It was fun to follow along with your build on social media too - thanks so much for sharing your process on Instructables. I feel like you shared some really good tips about fly-wire circuits that I definitely wouldn't have considered before tackling a project this ambitious.

Where did you find your 12v CCTV module? I have an old project that uses a bunch of CRTs that could use a component like that. :D

    Upcycled Tetherball Christmas Tree

Hey there! This is such a cute idea! I actually have a tetherball base from an old art project that I never threw away (aka hoarded), now I have some inspiration for a project - thank you!I'm a community manager here at Instructables too and would love to feature this project - but it needs one little edit to get up to snuff, could you add an in-focus photo of your finished project? Reply to this comment once that edit is made, great work again! Thanks for sharing to Instructables!

  • Hey there! I'm a community manager here at Instructables and wanted to see if it was even possible to upload a PDF from the mobile site (the browser experience on iPads, tablets, and phones) I just tried to upload a PDF from my phone into one of my draft Instructables and was not able to. I'll file a feature request to get that updated into the Instructables editor's ability, thanks for helping find this bug!In the meantime, are you able to edit your Instructable from a computer? You'll definitely be able to upload the PDF that way. Let me know if you can't access a computer and I can DM you and help you out. Thanks for posting such a cute amigurumi!

    Baking Your Bread

The braids and the sesame seeds is a nice touch! Lately I've been adding soaked polenta to this recipe too and it's very very good. Take one cup of polenta, add one cup of boiling water, stir and let stand until cool, then mix that into the bread recipe with a couple tablespoons of olive oil. Nom!

Heya, thanks for getting back to me! I'm also a community manager on the site and would love to feature this project to the home page, but there are a few tiny edits that would be great for you to incorporate. The thumbnail you selected isn't quite flashy enough for a homepage feature, would you change it to the more colorful image you created with the two lamps sitting next to one another? To do this, just edit this Instructable and select a new thumbnail from the drop-down menu in the publish/save screen.Lastly, if you could change your title to be more descriptive like "UV-Fluorescence Steampunk Lamp" and drop the "by Junaphor", as your username already follows your project title on the site.Let me know if you have any questions, and welcome back!
