Great idea, nice design. Masks don't need to filter out individual virions, as they desiccate and inactivate once their snot droplet evaporates. Purpose of the masks is to filter out the droplets. Remember the more "effective" the filter, the work of breathing increases, to the point where you rip of the mask and gulp for air. So it's always a trade-off. Commercial N95s can indeed be gently handwashed with a little dish soap and water, and air dried overnight. I use a small spray bottle and spritz mine with denatured alcohol after each shift.
