Great build and Instructable. I don't know why people are giving you such a hard time in the comments. I really like the addition of the gear sensor; I didn't know those were a thing!I wrote an Instructable about a really similar build a few months ago here:https://www.instructables.com/50-Mph-E-Bike/Yours is different though; for one, you made your own battery pack, which is awesome. Any regrets about doing this vs purchasing a pre-made battery pack?I was also wondering what type of throttle you have. How do you manage shifting versus holding onto the throttle? I was thinking about moving the rear (8-speed) shifter to the left and keeping the throttle on the right to make shifting much smoother.
View Instructable »I'm not sure I understand the new rear wheel. Did the bike not already have a rear cassette that you could use? Did you save money on building your pack? I bought this bad boy and it was $850 USD *gasp*....https://lunacycle.com/60v-triangle-24ah-panasonic-...Although, I do get 45-55 miles of range on a single charge and a top speed around 50 mph, so I don't necessarily regret it.Where did you get your gear sensor?

This is an awesome Instructable! In case anyone else downloaded the BoQ and was wondering about the currency, I backtracked from the URLs in this instructable to find they were South African, where the currency is the Rand. 1 Rand = $0.079 USD (on 5/3/2018).

I believe deciliter. 2 deciliter = 200 mL (milliliter).

Ohhhhh I understand, it's an internally geared hub. That's really cool! Do you use it often / do you think it was necessary? I'm running a fixed 54 tooth gear in the front and an 8 speed cassette in the rear and I definitely have enough low-end torque. I feel that the top speed is limited by the motor's power and what I'm comfortable with on my (relatively) skinny tires, not the gearing. If I did this again I would take a shot at making my own battery pack. That is a lot of savings and, as you mentioned, you can make it whatever shape you like.
