Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't posted any Instructables lately, I've been really busy! To make up for it, I'm going to show you how to make a super cute panda beanie!

Supplies

A 19 x 8 in. cotton piece of cloth or
A cotton shirt sleeve that's 9.5 x 8 in
A sheet of felt any color you want
A small section of a white or creme colored felt.
Panda face template
Elastic (If your material is stretchy, you shouldn't need it)

Step 1: Print and Cut!

Print out the panda face template and cut it out! You might need to adjust the size.

Step 2: More Cutting!

Trace the panda face pieces on the sheet of felt and cut them out. Next, cut out two small circles from your white piece of felt. These will go in the middle of the spots you previously cut out. If you're using a 19 x 8 piece of fabric, go ahead and fold it in half, wrong sides facing each other. Sew the ends together so it makes a tube. Then flip it right side out again.

Step 3: Sew, What's Happening?

First, sew the white circles onto the spots. Then, sew the eyes and nose onto the front of the fabric, about 3 inches away from the top. Note: If you put them too close to the top, when you close it, the eyes will be too close to the ears, and they will look like they're staring up at the ceiling.

Step 4: More Sewing!

Flip the hat inside out and sew the top closed with a running stitch, then flip it right side out again. We're almost done!

Step 5: Give Your Panda Ears!

What's a panda without its cute, fluffy ears? About an inch above the panda's eyes, sew the ears on behind the first ruffle. Make sure they stand up.

Step 6: Adding Elastic (Optional)

First, you'll need to measure your child's head. To do this, you need to take a long piece of elastic and wrap it around your child's head. Cut it so the ends are about an inch apart. Then, take your elastic and sew one end to the bottom of the hat. Pin the rest of the fabric around the base of the hat so it makes a loop. Make sure the elastic isn't twisted. Fold the fabric piece in half, so that it surrounds the elastic. Sew the other end on top of the other. Sew a little section between two pins all around the hat. Remove the pins and sew the rest of the fabric to the hat. Now it can fit even when your child grows bigger!
